Is ChatGPT Worth the Hype? Does it worth it?

ChatGPT Overview

Since its launch by OpenAI in November 2022, ChatGPT has dominated the tech media headlines. The multi-talented chatbot can write code, generate reports, translate content into different languages and answer a wide range of questions.

The development of AI tools and search engines began many decades ago and has been ongoing. AI technologies such as natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) have enabled the creation of more sophisticated AI tools and search engines.

Before the advent of ChatGPT, there were several other AI-powered search engines and tools, such as IBM’s Watson and Google’s AI-powered search engine. These earlier tools focused primarily on providing accurate and relevant search results based on keyword queries rather than having a conversational interface like ChatGPT.

However, with the advancement of NLP and ML, and the increasing need for more personalized and human-like interactions with technology, conversational AI models like ChatGPT were developed, which use NLP to understand and generate human-like text, making it possible to have natural language conversations with AI.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT stands for Chat (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) ChatGPT is a state-of-the-art language model developed by OpenAI. It is a conversational AI model based on transformer architecture, trained on a large dataset of text from the internet. The model uses natural language processing (NLP) techniques to understand and generate human-like text, making it possible to have natural language conversations with AI.

ChatGPT can be used for many tasks, including answering questions, generating text, and carrying out simple conversations. Its ability to create human-like text makes it suitable for chatbots, virtual assistants, and other applications requiring human-like text generation.

ChatGPT is one of the most significant language models developed to date and is considered one of the most advanced AI models for natural language processing. It is part of the GPT series of language models developed by OpenAI, which have been at the forefront of advances in NLP and AI.

ChatGPT in Nutshell

Until now, we know what ChatGPT was when it was launched. ChatGPT already crossed the milestone of one million users in just five days after it was made public in November. What we call “Artificial Intelligence” is somewhat what others believe is pure Machine Language. Whether it’s true or not, that’s a significant concern.

So I asked people whether the ChatGPT hype was worth it. Most have given their responses positively. This must be avoided because before ChatGPT launched, there were billions of searches for artificial intelligence tools. Then, what makes ChatGPT so popular and too much hype? One of the reasons could be that ChatGPT when it was launched, had all those answers that most researchers are looking for and the availability to provide all free results. One of the main reasons was that it is free to use for the public, whether for copywriting or for some general grammar checking. In contrast, other competitors were already in the market but were paid.

As ChatGPT Hyping, Microsoft pulled its strings. It injected 10 billion Dollars into OpenAI to bring New Edge Browser to the world for its competitors like Google. In the meantime, Google feels threatened and had so many meetings, so they can deliver their AI-powered product as soon as possible, which is excellent. Also, AI lovers found this news so great.

Since the launch of Bard, Alphabet Inc lost $100 billion in the market on 08-Feb-2023, Wednesday, after the bot provided inaccurate information in a promotional video. Microsoft started a waitlist for AI from 10-feb-2023. There has been no big blunder till now from Microsoft’s end. Still, they are cautious enough to let their user know that.

“Bing will sometimes misrepresent the information it finds, and you may see responses that sound convincing but are incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate,” they wrote.

To get a clear representation, take an example you made a newborn product (Say” Asker”) with pure machine learning and hid that product from the public for decades. You have only fed that Asker all over the world data without teaching them what it means and doesn’t mean, but you are just providing it day and night. While feeding all the data, you were cautious to tell what data was what. Let’s say you, Asker, can figure out “Dogs” from a bunch of photos or in a group of pictures, but how would that be your question? Right!

While you were feeding Asker all those data, the answer is straightforward: you made sure to define what feed reflects dogs and what doesn’t. That’s what made Asker distinguished.

ChatGPT is the same as Asker. It’s a pure machine language that has become much more popular, which is okay. They deserve to provide something to the public free of cost. However, so many critics have provided their views on ChatGPT as it is still now human-like artificial intelligence, so YOu can read the post on the verge where they stated ChatGPT’s tendency to hallucinate. One of the most famous technology blogs, Mashable, tested ChatGPT where they answered a few wrong questions. Even CNBC asked for lyrics, but they still needed to make the blunder.

ChatGPT also introduced its premium, which costs $20 each month, with some good features. As of now, these can be usable by many, but new users tend to be free users.

In conclusion, OpenAI is worth your time, but relying on it can be fatal. The example of ChatGPT being like a machine language-based newborn product is given, with the argument that while the model can distinguish dogs from photos, it does not understand the meaning of the information it is fed.
